Visiting Guide - California & Nevada
I had been to few visiting places in Ca & Nevada in these five months of my stay here in CA. Thought the below table might be useful to somebody out there.....

California & Nevada:

Place

Attraction

Who

Cost

Comments

Hollywood/UStudios

Famously made movies, rides

Parents/Kids/Friends

Annual Pass costs same as one day manytimes ($60 nearly). Buy on the internet.

Visiting once is good but too much of walk for parents in a day. Find a map and plan ahead so that you get time in between rides to sit and rest. I like Jurassic Park Ride, Mummy returns and Water world.

Walk of fame, Hollywood

It’s a street where there are “stars” engraved on the walkway. Each star is for each famous personality like Edison etc etc

Parents/Kids/Friends

No Cost.

You just walk on the street…it’s a long walk if you want to see every star.

Rodeo Drive, Hollywood

Again, this is a street where Rich shop.

Parents/Kids/Friends

No Cost.

Walk for around 15 mins. There is a shop called Bijan which is one of the world’s costliest shops and requires an appointment to shop.

Disney Land

Disney Land & California adventure park are part of Disney in Anaheim, Ca. Disney Themes & Rides mainly.

Kids & Kids. But who like Disney can go once. Costs a little high.

$76.00 for single day as far as I remember.

Takes one full day.

California Adventure Park

Rides

Friends

Takes one full day.

Knotts Berry Farm

Rides

Friends

$45 – Regular for one day. But you find coupons on the internet or entertainment books for $5- $24 off.

Not good idea for parents. Great fun with friends especially if they like rides. There are some crazy rides like Ghost, boomerang. Takes whole day.

Knotts Soak City

Water Rides

Friends

City Pass

Not an Attraction. Available in most city destinations. www.citypass.com

Parents/Kids/Friends

$185. Can sometimes find cheaper on internet and entertainment books.

This pass allows you to visit 4 places on one ticket. Beware, I guess its valid only for 14 days after first visit. Knotts Berry Farm, Disney Land, SeaWorld, San Deigo Zoo (or) San Diego Wild Animal Park.

Long Beach

Laguna Beach

Calm & private.

Brea Downtown

Pubs, restaurant, movie, open air activities.

Parents/Kids/Friends

No Cost

One of my favourite places for Friday night walks.

Malls

Ontorio Mills, Ontario – If you plan to buy, if you want to visit, go to Fashion Island, Newport Beach.

Las Vegas

Gambling, Casino Shows, Night Walk…

BIG NO for kids (My preference though).

Must visit once if you are in US. Friends – Great place.

Parents – Good. Stayed in Stratosphere for reasonable rates( avg. $60 per day). Can try Palace Heights & Tropicana. Hotel shouldn’t be too far from “Strip”, a place like downtown with all those casinos.

  Does Google Answer?
This is the reply that I got from Google's team when I asked them about Google Earth - its irresponsibility in displaying "sensitive", "high-resolution satellite imagery" of "strategically important places" of India:

Hello,

Thank you very much for your e-mail. Google Earth is constantly being
updated with new data and material. We are focused on continually
improving all aspects of this product, so we thank you for your feedback.

Regards,
The Google Earth Support Team

I really wonder how much Google has answered my concern. Even at this point, it still displays all the information. Who is going to stop Google?

For those who missed out my post on my letter to Google...here it is!!!

20th October 2005

Google Inc.
1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
Mountain View CA 94043

According to the media reports of October 21st 2005 on Google Earth, one would find that there is a well -defined boundary between India and Pakistan, and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is on Pakistan’s side. I really wonder, when has Google got the power and authority to draw boundaries between countries.

Even before this google was in the news for all the wrong reasons. Google Earth made available all those "sensitive", "high-resolution satellite imagery" of "strategically important places" of India (and maybe other countries EXCEPT AMERICA). I am shocked how could such a company like google be so irresponsible. I was further frustrated to know that it 'blanks' out white house, leave about not a single clue of America's military bases.

I understand that Google Earth might be in its Beta Version, and there are chances of Errors. When you can understand the ‘importance’ of blanking out White House, why not apply the same to other countries. This looks like somebody want to play mischief. When Microsoft makes blunders in their software, it bothers only Techies but when Google makes such blunders it affects each and every individual on ‘Earth’.

What is Google upto? Since it is an "American" Company, doesn't it have any kind of responsibility towards other nations? Or is it something else? Such errors on Google’s part may pose serious concerns and issues between nations. We all belong to this earth even before we belong to any nation. Irresponsibility to other nations is simply unarguable blunder. Doesn't google understand the basic rules of life?

Hoping to have a better Google!

Regards,

  Word of the year!
Now that the New Oxford American Dictionary has already declared its word of the year; lets go to the telugu version of it.

  Akbar Birbal
One day, Birbal was talking of a dinner he had eaten the day before. In doing so, he described brinjal (baingan) as be -gun i.e. without any good qualities. Akbar, who at the very moment was passing by, overheard this and started praising the qualities of the brinjal as bahu-gun i.e one without myriad qualities. Birbal promptly agreed. Thereupon, Akbar remonstrated with Birbal and asked him how Birbal could contradict himself. Birbal, with his famous presence of mind, retorted 'But Your Highness, I am your servant and not of the brinjal!'
